As a kid, one of the best nights of the year was dumping all your Halloween candy from your pillowcase when you got home trick-or-treating!

It was fun to see what you got, then separate the chocolate from the fruity candy, and trade a few pieces. I loved most of the candy. But some pieces I was happy to give away.

I decided to ask some of my favorite people who trick-or-treated in the 70s, 80s, and early 2000s about their least favorite candy in their bag….

My husband, Jack… little bags of candy corn

My brother Tim…Mounds or Almond Joy

My sister Laura…Good and Plenty

My sister Barb… she liked everything! lol (and has bad teeth like me!)

My sister Michelle..Dum-Dums suckers or hard candy

My oldest Jonathan…Good and Plenty

My youngest Nic…Reese’s, believe it or not. He is allergic to peanuts, so that makes sense!

My neighborhood bestie, Suzy, who I went trick-or-treating with every year…an apple or a penny. We always got one from the Goodmans’ house and threw them into the woods. Lol

My friend Traci…Bit-O-Honey

And her husband Steve…Mounds or Almond Joy. And both Traci and Steve’s second choice was Clark bars. Really? Those were the best!

If you’re curious about my least favorite candy, it’s a little complicated. I enjoyed small pieces of candy like those black-and-orange wrapped peanut butter taffies, little Now and Laters, and Bit-O-Honey.

BUT I enjoyed those random pieces in those 70s Halloween treat bags. You know them, right? I always loved getting those bags to see what was inside! Those rogue pieces tasted much better when they were contained in a fun seasonal bag. Does that make any sense? lol

In our new house, we don’t get any trick-or-treaters, which is disheartening. That doesn’t stop me from buying at least 1 bag of candy, just in case our doorbell rings…. Happy Halloween!
