The January calendar flipped 7 times since our last vacation. Family commitments, life, and covid happened. Like the rest of the world, we were ready to vacate our hometown for a bit. This trip had my name all over it as we took a trip across the pond. I have always loved all things British. We were extremely lucky to have the opportunity of visiting this city that’s been on my bucket list for years.
Even though we’ve been back for a bit, hence my hiatus in October, I think about the city of London often. If you’re a fan of history, the Royals, Harry Potter, tea, theatre, and pubs, then this city of over 9 million people is for you!
I have been fortunate in my life that my eyes have gazed upon famous paintings, landmarks, and pieces of art. London is now included on my list of a city that is home to some jaw-dropping masterpieces. It’s hard to describe in words the vastness, architectural wonder, and interesting stories this city emulates in its churches and buildings.
For instance, the Tower of London is a castle, fortress, and where the Crown Jewels are housed under armed guard. The Tower was constructed probably between1078-1097.
We laid eyes on the Imperial Crown. The 177-year-old crown symbolizes the sovereignty of the monarch. Queen Elizabeth II wore it during her coronation and it adorned her casket when she died. This blows my mind that we, from little ole Canfield, Ohio, were actually looking at it up close in a building that is 925 years old.
I can write, in detail, about what we saw but that would take a while! What I can share is that London has a classy and regal vibe. You can tell who’s British by how they look, how they dress, and of course, by their unmistakable accent. We loved submerging ourselves in this city and soaking up its culture.
The moral of this post is not only about sharing my adventure but encouraging you to eat that piece of cake, splash in a puddle, and strive to realistically check something spectacular, in your eyes, off your bucket list. Days pass by quickly. Life IS too short. Have no regrets.
Special thanks to Anna Aey, Travel Agent, who helped us plan our fabulous trip! Call her if you’re thinking about planning a vacation. She was so helpful and has been all over the world!

You are so lucky you got to go to London! I’ve been to England – but southwest (Bristol/Bath area). And that was way back in 2000.

I am lucky! It was such a wonderful trip and I would return in a second! I would highly recommend it and think about it often.
