Father’s Day weekend is a time to celebrate! Cheers to all the guys in our lives who are dads, those who act like a dad, and a positive presence in someone’s life.

Even though my dad is no longer here physically, I know he is with me in spirit every day. He used to share a phrase with me, my siblings, and in his later years, his grandkids, that is good to live by. When anyone left the house, his famous words were, “have fun, be smart, and be careful”.

My dad always had what I called “conservative fun”. He loved tinkering with tools, was a great handyman, and enjoyed good food. The simple things in life were his kind of fun.  Up until the day he passed away, he had a happy-go-lucky attitude, so “having fun”, no matter how fuddy-duddy, was an important part of his mantra.

“Being smart and careful” is an appropriate slogan for anyone to embrace. My dad always played by the rules and it was important for him to know that his family followed suit. He always obeyed the speed limit and read instructions on any manual he ever received with a product.

As you walk out the door to celebrate Father’s Day with those most important to you, remember that Ronald F. Czuba wants you to “have fun, be smart, and be careful”. My heart misses you, Dad.

Happy Father’s Day to my husband who I think is a really cool dad. Jonny and Nic are very lucky to have you. Cheers to my father-in-law, known as Papa, who taught my husband well. Also, kudos to my brother, several brothers-in-law, and nephews who all know how to raise some pretty terrific kids.
