Daisy Jones & The Six…many people I know have read it. I see the title often on various book sites. It’s such a popular book that it’s been made into a series on Amazon Prime Video. I finally read it. I really liked it!
Taylor Jenkins Reid is a girl after my own heart when she wrote this book for us GenX’ers. Welcome to the late 60s and 70s in L.A., the world of a rock-n-roll band and the sexy hard life that accompanies it.
Daisy Jones is a young, carefree, barefoot, hair-in-the-eyes girl whose raspy voice is making an impression in the music world. The band, The Six, is also gaining popularity led by singer, Billy Dunne. When Daisy and Billy’s musical talent merge, there’s magic. As you immerse yourself in this historical fiction book, you’ll get to know the band, feel the excitement of going on tour, and experience all the drama. It’ll feel like you scored backstage passes.
There are many reasons I enjoyed this book. First, it’s uniquely written as a narrative interview from all the character’s perspectives. This is the first book I’ve read in this format.
According to Jenkins Reid, the storyline is based loosely on the band, Fleetwood Mac. I’m a huge fan so that obviously drew me into the story, as well as, the time period of the book. I’m a product of the 70s.
I’ve read several books by TJR. If this isn’t your first one, be mindful as you’re reading. She connects characters between her titles. It was a fun revelation!
The body of the book was truly entertaining but the plot didn’t seem to intensify. However, the last quarter of the story really drew me in. It was the icing on the cake and I walked away from it with much satisfaction.
I’m obviously a fan of TJR. I enjoy that the content of her various titles are distinct. Daisy Jones & The Six is a perfect example. My final “book report” on this title is highly recommended! Enjoy it with Fleetwood Mac’s Rumors playing softly in the background.
I’ve watched all the streaming episodes on Amazon Prime to date. It’s a wonderful series! It doesn’t follow the book exactly but I still enjoyed it. Fun fact: Taylor Jenkins Reid is the producer and the music is fantastic!

It’s a great book especially if you’re a product of the 70s! I finished watching the mini-series too and really enjoyed it. Those groovy outfits are something else!
