Over the past couple of years, on my Thanksgiving post, I have enjoyed writing about random things I’m thankful for. Ya know, like getting a good parking space at a busy storefront or having all the ingredients for your recipe already in your pantry…

But what about back when I was growing up? What 5 random things would I have been thankful for as a grade-school kid? Thinking back, here is what I would probably have said…

  1. On the last day of class before break, the cafeteria offered a turkey lunch. It included turkey with the yellow gravy, mashed potatoes, those soft dinner rolls, and an ice cream cup. It didn’t matter how long the lunch line was on that day. It was the best!
  1. I had really nice teachers who didn’t assign homework during the long holiday weekend. However, I would have been okay with doing an artsy kind of homework.
  1. It was exciting if it snowed over Thanksgiving weekend! We were so happy to get outside and play for the first time that season!
  1. Sleeping in on Thanksgiving morning and waking up to Mom rustling around in the kitchen. The best is when the food smells start wafting up the stairs. It felt so cozy!
  1. Getting to drink pop at Thanksgiving dinner, eating snacks, and having more than one dessert..lol

Conjure up some good memories of your past Thanksgiving Days this holiday! Enjoy the weekend with your friends and family!
