Like most avid readers, I have a list of books TBR (to be read). When someone recommends a title, I use the “note” feature on my phone and list the book plus the person who suggested it. When I’m ready to read something new, this is my go-to list. Do you always choose a book you never read, or have you ever spent time re-reading some of your favorites?
Because my TBR list is fairly long, there has to be a good reason to reread a book. About a month ago I read Where The Crawdad’s Sing again in anticipation of the film debuting this month. I read Crawdads for the first time about 4 years ago when it was published in 2018. When a book is adapted to a movie I enjoy reading the book before I see the film to see how the screenwriter will portray the story. It jogged my memory to reread it when I found a beautiful Limited Edition hardcover at a garage sale for $1.00. How lucky am I! On a side note, Where The Crawdad’s Sing is a fabulous book! If you haven’t seen the film yet, make plans to do so. It’s a great adaptation of the book!
Every summer I try and pick up a Harry Potter book. July 31 is Harry’s birthday! Most extreme HP fans know this fun fact and I try to celebrate his day by revisiting one of the seven books in the series. In my opinion, the Harry Potter books never get old.
I sometimes reread a book when I’m waiting to start a new one for a vacation or when I’m patiently waiting for an ordered book to arrive. I’ll choose an already-read title off my shelf to abide my time. When rereading a book I always seem to find a new way of examining the story and getting a fresh perspective on the characters. It feels comfortable.
Whether I open a book for the first time or the second, reading is my favorite pastime. Reading helps me remember. It brings me back to a time when books comforted me and made me feel content. Reading also helps me forget. If I’m having a bad day or thinking negatively, a good story gives me a break from reality.
I’m curious what books you have reread. Please share in the comments below. The picture above shows some that I have read more than 1 time, some more than 2 times! Whatever book you’re holding, I hope you’re thoroughly enjoying it!

I rarely re-read a fiction book. Off the top of my head, the only one I can remember reading twice was A Tree Grows in Brooklyn. I’m sure there’s been a few others, but I can’t recall them right now.
Sorry to say, I didn’t enjoy the Crawdads book. I thought it started well and had promise, but then it quickly tanked for me and became too predictable and boring. I thought it was written more like a Young Adult novel. So I don’t think I’ll be seeing the movie.
Have a good weekend!

Hi! Everyone has their likes and dislikes, right?! I usually like the book much better than the movie but in this case I was impressed of the adaptation. Plus, I just like going to the movies for the snacks..haha! Hope you’re enjoying whatever you’re reading!
