I’m a big fan of Ina Garten, TV cook, author, and host of the Food Network shows, The Barefoot Contessa and Be My Guest.

Her soft, calming, and confident voice mesmerizes me when I settle in to watch her shows. Her house and property are gorgeous with a capital G! If we ever met, I think we would become fast friends. I imagine her inviting me for a picnic lunch at the beach in East Hampton with red and white checked napkins blowing in the salty breeze. She would serve chilled chicken salad sandwiches, her famous brownies, and a fun summer cocktail…lol.

I was giddy when I heard she wrote a memoir. My youngest bought me her book for Christmas. He’s a big fan too! This book was everything I thought it would be. There were surprises, it was thought-provoking, and very fun to read!

The book isn’t in chronological order, and I appreciated that. She said in several interviews that she started her book with meeting Jeffery because that’s really when her life began. So dang sweet.

Because I don’t reveal spoilers, just know you will experience many emotions, including heartbreak, excitement, and exhilaration. Honestly, there were times when I felt envious of her confidence and carefree spirit.

What a life she’s led. You’ll learn about the people she has met and the empire she has grown. Who knew she never had formal training as a cook? A big takeaway of the book starts even before you read the first chapter. Jeffrey states, “Do what you love. If you love it, you’ll be really good at it”. It makes perfect sense.

If you think Ina Garten is charming on TV, read her book! It’s an easy read, feel-good story that will make you appreciate her charm even more. Enjoy!

PS. Ina, if you happen to read this, I’m free next Saturday. Please take me in your convertible to Loaves and Fishes and Tate’s Bake Shop! We’ll make a day of it…
