If you Google “stressful life events,” moving is usually in the top 5. To date, it has been a good experience, but it’s been a long journey. Our adventure started back in January 2024.

My mobility issues escalated. Steps were becoming difficult. Going down on my butt, crawling up, and literally, throwing laundry down the stairs was becoming the norm. You never know where life will take you, so we made decisions.

We are moving into a development right around the corner from the house we built and called home for 24 years, into a beautiful 1-story villa. Making all the interior decisions was so much fun; all the square footage will be liveable, and there is plenty of storage!..plus my favorites being the walk-in pantry and a closet big enough that I won’t have to store off-season clothes!

There have been lots of details sandwiched between ..construction, the financial commitment, selling our house, purging, packing, deadlines, schedules…but it’s all moving towards a simple and safe lifestyle that we will enjoy.  And our kids, who both live in Chicago, won’t have to stress about us as the years go by.

We’re in the homestretch! Our target date for moving is mid-July. My mind will be focused on saying goodbye to 90 Savannah Court and hello to 71 Saybrook Drive!

I decided to take a hiatus from My Heart In Pen in July and August while we move and settle in. I love writing my blog and don’t want it to become something I have to do, but rather something I want to do. So, I’ll see you right back here on September 4, writing from our new home. As always, you will still see my posts on Instagram. (Follow me @myheartinpen) I’m not tech-savvy,but I’m hoping my website will be just the way I left it. Please bear with me if there are issues when I return. Your patience is appreciated!

We couldn’t be more excited about our new house! I know it’s going to be the perfect place for us. You know why? Because 90 + 71 = 161. 161 is the house number of my beloved childhood home on Dartmouth Drive. I believe it’s a sign that my Mom and Dad had a hand in bringing us there. As they say, the best is yet to come…See you soon!
