Hold onto your hat when you pick up the book Verity, by Colleen Hoover! All over my Facebook book groups, readers keep talking about this title. They describe it as a “crazy thrill ride” and “very promiscuous”.

Remember the movie “Fatal Attraction” starring Glenn Close and Michael Douglas? The overall aura of the book reminds me of that film. To describe this book in one word that would be “manipulation”. If you like creepy books, read this one!  Full disclosure: it has several explicit sexual situations so be prepared. After reading the book I understand the reason the author was so graphic. It’s needed to understand the character’s control issues.

You’ll meet Lowen Ashleigh, a struggling writer. She finds herself with a career opportunity she reluctantly accepts but knows will make her financially stable. Her task is to finish writing a series of books started by famous author Verity Crawford after she is injured in a car accident and is incapacitated. Verity’s husband, Jeremy, hires Lowen and invites her to their home where they live along with Verity’s nurses and the couple’s little boy, Crew. Verity has an office that houses all her written work.

As Lowen reviews Verity’s writing to conclude her book series, she stumbles across her autobiography. It contains many insane, scary, and unbelievable admissions about her life. Lowen keeps this manuscript and the information in it secret from Jeremy to shield him from heartache. From there, the story escalates to a fast-paced, intense page-turner.

I am usually a slow reader but I read this 314 pager in less than two weeks. It’s everything readers described it to be. Towards the end of the book, I couldn’t figure out how it was going to end. It’s one of those kinds of books. I loved it for its unusual but believable story for a fiction book and that it’s, literally, a page-turner.

If you like spooky and sassy content, this book has both. I’m definitely now a Colleen Hoover fan! Hope you enjoy it!
