Couldn’t we all use a little sparkle and glam starting in the new year? I have the perfect book to get you in the celebratory spirit, especially if you have a special event planned in 2021.

It’s My Party by Joe Mineo is an absolutely gorgeous book, both inside and out. This dazzling coffee table book tells the story of Mineo’s career, from his beginning as a contemporary floral designer and owner of Something New Floral and Events, to the establishment of his own brand, Joe Mineo Creative. In his current role as an event designer, Mineo helps clients throw the most elaborate, unique, and ambitious events with such creativity and heart. 

Years ago, I remember watching Mineo on WFMJ Today, one of Youngstown’s local morning news station. My son and I used to watch Mineo’s segments before I sent him off to school and we were always thoroughly impressed by his striking and sophisticated floral designs. We are incredibly fortunate to have such a tremendous design talent residing here in northeast Ohio!

I enjoyed the way the book guided me through 16 glamorous events with extraordinary photos. Every page is enveloped with Mineo’s exquisite taste and exuberant personality, and his passion for his clients is evident with every interaction detailed in the book. Mineo is an expert in developing relationships with his clients. His expertise allows him to visualize a finished event from just a few ideas in an initial consultation. As you read about each client’s wishes and backgrounds, I swear you’re able to hear Mineo’s gifted wheels turning in his ingenious head. 

My favorite event featured in the book is titled “In Party Fashion.” Mineo and his team put together an incredible party for a 13-year-old fashion designer’s Bat Mitzvah. I cannot do the design justice — all I can say is that it’s magnificent and you have to read it and see it! From the cocktail space that housed the young designer’s “closet” to the dressmaker mannequin centerpieces, your jaw will drop, as did mine.

From the 125th anniversary at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC to the Induction Ceremony of the Cleveland Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, this book will spark the right side of your brain. As for the author and designer, Joe Mineo, I am overwhelmed by his talent and creative abilities. Buy this book. You’ll feel like you are attending a gorgeous party as you peruse every page.
