When I started my blog, I was walking in blind. I knew nothing. I researched a lot and tried to learn some of the technical aspects and the basics of how the heck to get it started.

Now that the ball has been rolling for a while, I love being part of the blogging community. It’s a cool club to belong to!  Because we enjoy writing, I have an immediate connection to many authors, and the best part of all? I’ve made new friends!

I’m taking my prompt this week from my friend, Kari, who writes, an awesome blog, A Grace Full Life. In her late September blog, she answered questions about her blogging experience. I loved the idea and told her I was borrowing it so my readers could see how and why I started this crazy endeavor. So here it goes….!

How long have you been blogging? 3 years. My first post was published on June 4, 2021. I titled it, The Beginning. I would say that was appropriate.

Why did you start a blog? In a nutshell, covid. I wasn’t working and needed to have a creative outlet. I’ve always been an avid reader and also loved to write. My oldest gave me the idea and encouraged me to pursue this journey.

Do people in your offline life read your blog? I hope so! I know my husband reads it each week. I can tell from the “likes” or comments that I have regular readers, including my sisters, and a couple of close friends. My oldest who gave me the idea to create a blog is my editor so I know he reads it too!

Do you tell people you have a blog? If the conversation lends itself to it, then yes. I have business cards with my blog info on them and if there seems to be an interest, I share one. I love having new subscribers and sharing my stories!

Have you ever met a blogger in the offline world? Yes, but I knew them both beforehand. Does that count? An ex-colleague of mine, Lynn, has a great blog. Living Large In a Small House and my friend, Kim, who now owns a travel company blogs on her site, Love Our World Travel. They were both bloggers before I started. I have yet to meet, someone face-to-face whom I’ve formed a relationship with through a blog. I would love to, though!

What do you like best about blogging? Many things! It helps me stay creative and I enjoy the writing process. My blog is eclectic and part of its content is writing about my memories of growing up in the 1970s. It’s an homage to my great childhood and a diary, of sorts, for my kids. I have my feelings and words documented for generations to come.

Approximately how many blogs do you read?  About 5-7 consistently.

Do you comment on all the blogs you read? Most of the time. I usually have something to say..lol. I always like to let the writer know that I did read their post. I love it when readers comment on my blog! It gives me all the good feelings!

So, there you have it! Everything you ever wanted to know! I truly write from the heart (thus my blog name, My Heart In Pen) ..and if you enjoy my work, I would be humbled if you shared my site with others. Please check out my friends’ blogs too! To my readers, thank you for your support and I hope you continue to enjoy my content.
