You can’t get any easier than making chocolate bark…..

-A good melting chocolate in your favorite flavor.

-Your favorite toppings.

-A cookie sheet, and I recommend a slit pad. Nothing sticks to it!

Melt your chocolate either in a double boiler or in a microwave bowl in 30-second intervals until it’s smooth. Pour the melted chocolate on the cookie sheet. I like to wait about 7 minutes or so to add my toppings and salt so it won’t sink into the chocolate.

-Wait until the chocolate is completely dry. Break it into pieces and share!

I know that you don’t necessarily need a recipe to make chocolate bark. The reason I’m featuring it on my blog is to remind you that it’s an easy and delicious sweet treat to make for any occasion, like Valentine’s Day!

I am not a cookie baker. I like to bake, but when I attempt cookies, they taste good, but never look pretty. Over the holidays, I decided to make bark instead. It was easy, delicious, and looked pretty to give as a homemade gift from the kitchen.

The fun part about making bark is using any toppings you like. At Christmas, I used dark chocolate, cherries, whole salted almonds, and flaked sea salt. It was a great combo!

For Valentine’s Day, I’m experimenting with a new combination. I’m going to use dark chocolate, drizzle some warmed-up peanut butter, and sprinkle generously with flaked sea salt. The flaked sea salt makes a big difference in how the bark tastes and looks. You can buy it here.

If you have about 15 minutes, you can create a fun treat to give to family and friends. Honestly, I miss the vintage 70s drug-store Valentine’s and would absolutely include one with my treat if I found a box at an antique store…Enjoy!
