Hello Summer! My freckles will start to appear from the sun and I’ll soon be making sun tea on my patio. But what I’m most excited about is gathering my summer reading books! It may sound silly, but I especially look forward to books in the summer because I love reading in natural sunlight. Ahh..there’s nothing better than thinking about what stories I’ll dive into for the next few months without turning on a lamp.

I have many unread beauties waiting their turn in line to be read on my shelves but that doesn’t stop me from buying new ones. I typically choose thought-provoking books to read this time of year but with a summer vibe. That said, there are two that I definitely want to grab…

A True Account: Hannah Masury’s Sojourn Amongst the Pyrates, Written By Herself. Written by Katherine Howe

The Berry Pickers. Written by Amanda Peters

Will I buy and read these books? I hope so! But it wouldn’t surprise me if I go rogue and pick up something that randomly grabs my attention at a book or garage sale. I buy books like some people buy shoes or bottles of bourbon (shout out to my husband, Jack..lol) You never know which others will make it on my Summer Reading Lineup. (for you Seinfeld fans, it’s unlike the Candy lineup, season 9, episode 11..lol) I’ll also keep my eyes out for spooky books because when I feel the first hint of chill in the air I’ll go all in with fall reads.

Deciding what summer books I’ll choose is something I always look forward to! I’ll read them on my back patio swing while the chain connecting it makes a hypnotic squeaky sound as I feel the warm rays on my face. Of course, a glass of sun tea will accompany me as I sink into the joys of summer reading without a care in the world…
