It’s warming up here in Ohio. I thought I’d share 4 random and eccentric things I look forward to every summer….
Nothing is more soothing, relaxing, and methodical than the continuous chirp of nighttime crickets. When I was little, Mom would open the windows in our bedroom and the lull of crickets, plus our attic fan, would put me in a quick deep sleep. Even though the air conditioner is on in our house right now, there’s usually a window cracked just enough to hear them singing their night songs.
I look forward to a summer beauty routine. Each year I buy a new scent of Philosophy Body Wash. I love all the bubbles this brand makes and who doesn’t enjoy the scent of summer? In my shower this year are Cabana Girl and Limoncello. I also bought a new product, DRMTLGY universal tinted moisturizer SPF 46. It works like a charm and gives you that summer-dewy glow. I love a 3-in-1 product for a quick warm-weather look that looks completely natural.
Growing up when Mom served corn on the cob, we always used our glass corn dishes. She would toss a big pat of butter in the bottom and let it melt into a large pool then spin the cob around until every kernel was covered. It was my favorite part of dinner during the hot summer months! She passed those dishes to me and there’s not a summer that goes by that I don’t use them.
I have a white rocker that sits on my front porch which I inherited from my Dad. When the warm weather approaches, it gets hauled up from the basement. That chair looks and feels like summer! When it’s not too hot outside, I sit and read or talk on the phone. Our porch gets the morning sun and I love it when I feel the first warm rays of the sun with dew still hanging onto the green grass in our front yard.
It’s the simple joys in life, right?

You are so right! As a child we ate most of our summer meals outside at the picnic table in the shade. I look forward to this every year☀️

Lovely summer things and memories! I have good memories of eating corn-on-the-cob slathered in butter during my childhood summers, too. Must be a Midwest thing! I still love to eat it that way.

Ohh, the corn! It’s starting to get really good right now! I hope you enjoy it this year too!
