This Sunday is the day we celebrate moms. In my opinion, a mom can be defined as anyone that nurtures, teaches, and loves someone every day as they grow. That could encompass a wide group including an adoptive parent, a grandparent, an aunt, and if you own an animal, you’re a pet mom!

In my eyes, my mom was something special. Of course, she did the obvious, important job of instilling my siblings and me with important values and morals, but she also taught me some quirky and useful things. She showed me how to make award-winning homemade strawberry jam (I actually won 1st place at the Canfield Fair back in the 1990s!), how to sew on a button, iron dress shirts, how to appreciate a good pastry, and clean a house like nobody’s business, especially not forgetting the details of dusting every nook and cranny!

I’m hoping all of you have someone to honor on Sunday that pushed and prodded you onto a path when you were young that now brings you comfort and happiness. Happy Mother’s Day to all you deserving moms! To my mom, Adrienne, whose sweet picture is above, there isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t think about you and often still shed tears 9 years later because I really miss you. You filled my heart with joy.
